Jackie Beard, director of closed-end fund research at Morningstar, explains how in just 12 months, a three-fold increase in the number of investment trusts releasing portfolio data on a monthly basis has been recorded by the group.

In May 2012, Morningstar issued a report titled Investment Trusts: Why Transparency Matters, which aimed to demonstrate why we thought investment companies needed to improve their transparency, particularly through the disclosure of full portfolio holdings, on a regular basis.
