Monovski fronts Renaissance of ex-BlackRock star players

Manager adopts three-pronged strategy including focus on contrarian bets in EM Europe

BlackRock’s former award-winning emerging Europe equity team has hit the ground running at new firm Renaissance Asset Managers. The team, headed by Plamen Monovski, joined emerging markets specialist Renaissance Asset Managers in February last year. Monovski, who retired from BlackRock in 2009, was so enthused by the new challenge he also took on the role of chief investment officer.
