Manager adopts three-pronged strategy including focus on contrarian bets in EM Europe

BlackRock’s former award-winning emerging Europe equity team has hit the ground running at new firm Renaissance Asset Managers. The team, headed by Plamen Monovski, joined emerging markets specialist Renaissance Asset Managers in February last year. Monovski, who retired from BlackRock in 2009, was so enthused by the new challenge he also took on the role of chief investment officer. Also on board from BlackRock are Karol Chrystowski and Viktor Nossek. The BlackRock Global Funds – Emerging Europe Fund, which Monovski co-ran, reached, at its peak, $9bn in size.
