Standard Life manager maintains focus on quality, growth and momentum to steer UK Small Cos vehicle to positive returns as peers underperform
Only one of the 48 funds in the IMA UK Smaller Companies sector has delivered a positive return over the past three years and the worst performers have lost over 50%. Over half of the funds have lost 20%, with 12 of them losing 30% or more in what has been a catastrophic period for investors in UK Smaller Companies. Two of the worst-performing funds include Axa Framlington UK Smaller Companies and Close Beacon Investment, which lost 48.04% and 57.85% respectively over the 12 months to 10 November, according to Morningstar.
