Given a gift of £10,000, far more people would spend it on property than save for a pension but the option is decreasing in popularity, according to research for the ABI. A survey of 2,828 people for internet pollster YouGov shows a third would convert the money into bricks and mortar. But this is sharply down on an equivalent poll in September 2003, which showed 44% would take the property option.
