Two years ago the Newton European High Yield Bond fund underwent a manager change and some significant mandate changes resulting in it moving sector and halving the number of holdings in the portfolio. Since then the fund, under the leadership of Paul Brain, has outperformed its peer group and maintained a position in the top five of the IMA Global Bond sector. Up until 30 April 2004 the fund, then managed by Michael Micko, ‘hedged’ all bond investments into sterling and was listed in the UK Other Bond sector.
