Emerging market consumer demand will continue to drive long-term domestic growth, according to Joanne Irvine, head of emerging markets ex Asia at Aberdeen. Irvine is preparing to launch the Aberdeen Global-Emerging Markets Smaller Companies fund in March, and believes the product offers exposure to a relatively undiscovered asset class. “Smaller companies are under-researched and with a large universe the opportunity is there to find quality, undervalued companies,” Irvine said. “Small caps are more exposed to domestic activity and less vulnerable to external slow-down.
