Figures released by the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) last month show an improving trend in manufacturing demand, however, some economists doubt whether this is likely to last. Sebastian MacKay, economist at Scottish Widows Investment Partnership (Swip), says that, while the figures from the CBI were slightly better than expected, manufacturing demand is bouncing back from a low base and is not likely to see much growth. “It is a bit better but nothing to get excited about.
