As Standard Life policyholders eagerly await the outcome of the vote on its demutualisation, due this week, a number of papers have picked up on the furore of issues surrounding it. One of which, as covered by the Mail on Sunday, was that recent research by the Association of Mutual Insurers showed that policy payouts have plummeted among insurers who have demutualised, in what the paper asserted should be cause for concern for the 2.4 million Standard Life policyholders.
