While most Japanese fund managers now believe the country to be in a sustainable long term recovery, performance figures show the IMA’s Japan sector to be an inherently volatile peer group. Investment Week looked at the quartile ranking of funds that have been in the sector for five or more years, a list of 46 portfolios at 24 April. Of that list, just 10 have managed to maintain their quartile rankings over one-, three- and five-year periods. Those 10 funds include offerings from Threadneedle, Soc Gen, New Star, L&G, JPM, Invesco Perpeutal, Gartmore, Framlington, Canada Life and Barings....
