RWC is well known for poaching whole teams from rival asset managers, and last year it took advantage of an opportunity to recruit from hedge fund Everest Capital. The group had been forced to close the majority of its funds following the Swiss National Bank's decision to remove the cap on its currency, causing values to plummet. Dan Mannix, CEO at RWC, hired heads of Everest's EM team John Malloy and James Johnstone as well as 22 other members of staff, who joined with $1.3bn AUM.
