Schroders' Parbrook: Do not expect fantastic returns from Asia

Schroders' head of Asia ex Japan equities Robin Parbrook has told investors not to expect stellar returns from Asian equities as several headwinds threaten the asset class.

Parbrook (pictured) said Asian markets could struggle in the medium term, with the Chinese A-share market in bubble territory and economic growth slowing down. "Asian economies will probably still grow faster than developed ones, but do not expect fantastic returns from Asia," he said. "Asian markets are bordering on expensive. We have seen some money flowing into emerging markets, but not developed Asia." Last year, Investment Week's research revealed Asia-focused equity managers were the only major equity grouping in which the average manager beat the benchmark over the year. ...
