Rental properties in the UK provided robust underlying value and returns in 2012. The success of the private rental sector has largely been driven by a lack of available funding for potential homeowners, which is increasing rents. Figures from our monthly rental index show that gross rental yields remained at 5% throughout Britain in 2012, with the majority of regions returning an average yield of around 4%.
