'Recession-like conditions' central theme from IW's latest Channel Island Summit

"Recession-like" conditions in the US and the potential for a Brexit deal agreement were some of the biggest themes discussed at Investment Week’s bi-annual Channel Islands Summit last week.

The summit provided in-depth insights into the US economy, where the consensus expected muted earnings and a general US slowdown over the next 12 to 18 months resembling a recession. Managers feel that US equity valuations are at highly elevated levels and as a result have redirected their focus to Europe where they expect UK to reach an agreement, leading to a controlled pull out of Europe.  How much further can the US bull market run?
