William Hemmings, longstanding head of investment companies at abrdn, is set to retire from the role at the end of November.

Hemmings has spent 32 years at abrdn and 20 years in his current role, and will be replaced by Christian Pittard, who will take a newly expanded role as head of closed end-funds and managing director, corporate finance. abrdn China to merge with Fidelity China Special Situations Pittard, who has been the firm's director of corporate finance and head of listed funds since 2015, will also continue to have responsibility for abrdn's closed-end fund M&A.
