Capital Group has hired Schroders' John Griffiths to the newly-created position of head of UK client group.
Griffiths joins the firm to help oversee its expansion to clients in the UK and will report to head of Europe and Asia client group Guy Henriques.
Alongside Griffiths, Capital Group has also added Janus Henderson Investors' Allyson Foster as UK head of marketing, reporting to Europe head of marketing David Cowdell. Both will be based in London.

Henriques said the appointments were "critical elements to expanding our local services in markets around the globe".
"Our long-term approach, embedded into both how we invest and our company culture, means we can bring exceptional leaders on board with deep market knowledge, and we plan to build on these efforts to serve clients across both regions.
"The UK asset management industry is the second largest in the world and is expected to grow at a rate that will outpace the US and Europe.

Griffiths had been head of UK and Ireland institutional business at Schroders since 2015, having joined from PIMCO, where he had focused on the UK, Nordic and Benelux institutional markets for the prior six years.

Griffiths said the $2.1trn Capital Group's history of delivering superior long-term investment results had never been more relevant than it is today for UK investors. "This is a great opportunity to lead the UK's channel expansion for Capital Group's financial intermediary and institutional client base."
Foster, meanwhile, joins having held the roles of head of EMEA and LatAm marketing, and head of brand and UK marketing at Janus Hemderson for nine years. She had previously worked in marketing and communications roles at Ignis Asset Management and New Star Asset Management.
