There was a time when bond fund managers were boring. You might remember those dark days when all they could talk about was gilt yields and the market was dominated by Whittingdale (a very good group, I might add). Then along came Paul Thursby, in those days at Barings, now plying his trade at Thames River. His 'Deputy Dawg' persona and only occasional appearances in a suit immediately made him a man you wanted to talk to.
