Watching Watching Alistair Darling doing the Budget the other week was a bit like watching Forrest Gump doing finance. I was tempted to laugh if it wasn't all so serious and ultimately very boring. But that said, there was the odd nugget of intelligence and even potential genius. First, the current Government has turned the Budget from being a quite exciting event, because there were often new, unexpected announcements that had far-reaching consequences, into a chore and a bore.
