Are awards ceremonies important?

During the course of every year there are a number of awards programmes and ceremonies for asset management groups and individual funds.

These are in addition to the ever-growing number of ratings and research papers produced on the various merits of individual fund managers. Just this month we saw the publication by Financial Express/Trustnet of its Alpha managers in the pages of Investment Week, Morningstar has released its annual awards and OBSR has revealed changes to the ratings of some individual managers.
