If a surgeon operated on you would he do a better or worse job if you earned £10,000 a year or £100,000 a year? Well if he works in the NHS, the answer is you would expect him (or her) to do exactly the same quality of job. If you went private, chances are you wouldn't be earning £10,000 a year, but if you were you would still be expecting the surgeon to do exactly the same job.
