When is an investment boutique really an investment boutique? Investment Week touched on the point three weeks ago (24th July issue) with a very good piece looking at the rise in assets of some of the so-called boutiques. I thought a simple definition of a boutique was its size but heading the table was New Star with £18.1bn under management accompanied by Artemis at £10bn. On these figures, both are far from being the small, boutique managers they might have been a few years ago.
