The latest research from Incisive Media asked: Are balanced funds losing their appeal? Those who stated yes made these additional comments: • Poor performance and no control over assets. • They are not balanced or managed. • The typical asset allocation rarely suits the individual investor. • They are closet trackers. • Unless the balance between asset classes is actively managed then they are a waste of space. • The problem with most of them is they are run on a relative return basis against the peer group, which has too high a bias towards equities routinely.
