It was the News of the World that stopped it. Actually it was a poll in the News of the Screws and its sister paper the Sunday Times that stopped it - and thank God they did. Of course I'm talking about a general election. Frankly the thought of having to listen to a few more weeks of incessant nonsense from the political parties would have driven me nuts.
