The influential Treasury Select Committee has set itself an ambitious agenda for its inquiry into the banking crisis that will kick off in the New Year. It has fingered the collars of just about everybody and everything that might have contributed to the massive turmoil of the last few months. Top of its list come auditors and ratings agencies, who many MPs feel have a lot of questions to answer but have so far escaped being called to account.
