The headline might not have screamed off the pages of the Sunday Times two weeks ago, but I'm sure a lot of people saw the story. "£480m awaits broker duo" referring to Peter Hargreaves and Stephen Lansdown, founders of the eponymous IFA business Hargreaves Lansdown, based down in Bristol, and its possible flotation. Is the business worth £480m? Well a fund manager could tell you that better than me, but on the stated turnover figures, £48m for the year ended June 2005, I'd suggest the Sunday Times just guessed at the potential stock market value.
