Apparently the average cost of bringing up a British child is £118,000, up 9% on last year. The average UK parent apparently also spends £129 on birthday parties - both these frightening facts come courtesy of American toy manufacturer Hasbro, which happens to own Monopoly. Its a case of pass 'go' and collect a large bill for having kids. Now, as someone who's got three little darlings, figures like this scare me into hoping none of them want to go to university but get jobs to start paying back some of the £118,000 as soon as possible.
