The English don't like taking lessons from anyone, and certainly not the Germans. Still, it is hard to resist the conclusion that Heinz Stuecke has taught us something. Stuecke has been cycling around the world on the same bike since 1962, when John F Kennedy was in the White House. Through most of those 44 years on two wheels his travels have been unhindered. Then he landed in Portsmouth on the south coast of England. On the first day, his bike was stolen. The police did their best to help, offering to lend him a spare one. And, eventually the bike was found. Still, the message was clear...
