More predictions on the week ahead as the tournament begins to hot up

Well I suppose I had to get something right in last week's column. Having taken DWS's Andy Clark to task for being bullish on Spain and Portugal's prospects in the tournament it played nicely into my hands. Portugal's victory over Spain meant I was at least right about the Spanish being one of the great underachievers. But I own up to getting it badly wrong about Germany and Italy. Having thought they were the past master of 'growing' into tournaments they managed to confound this piece of footballing wisdom by crashing and burning.
