You may have seen the email doing the rounds this week with a cartoon of Winnie the Pooh and Piglet. If you have not, the caption starts: "As the two friends wandered through the snow on their way home, Piglet grinned to himself, thinking how lucky he was to have a best friend like Pooh." And here is the punchline: "Pooh thought to himself: 'If the pig sneezes, he is dead.'" Of course it is a little dangerous to make jokes about swine flu, and a bit insensitive given the number of people who have died, but the general reaction in the UK does say a lot of about how we react to big events...
