As I walk into the office of the chairman of the insignificantly-sized investment company SmallBlue Planet, it is impossible not to be struck by its opulence - the fine oak panelling, the 11 giant portraits of its occupant in statesman-like poses and a desk you could play snooker on - if it had pockets and you didn't mind the balls falling onto the floor.
