Apparently among the useless things that scientists have discovered recently is that losing money generates the same feeling as pain and fear. The boffins have found out that the part of the brain which is involved with processing fear and pain, the striatum, is also triggered by the loss of money or the fear of losing money. Minutes after reading these facts I lost a £10 note, which must have fallen out of my pocket when I pulled out my mobile.
