Asian equity manager Lai to exit GAM after 20 years

Asian equity fund manager Michael Lai will be leaving GAM, where he has worked for over two decades, passing on his responsibilities to Rob Mumford.

Lai joined the group in 1998 and has been an investment director responsible for the GAM Star China Equity and GAM Star Asian Equity funds. He will be working with the group over the coming months to ensure an "orderly and smooth transition" of the portfolios to Mumford, subject to regulatory approval. Like Lai, Mumford is based in Hong Kong and is part of the global emerging markets team. He will lead the management of the fund alongside Yu-Heng Fan and invesment analyst Hermia Chan.
