HANetf has expanded its team with the hire of Faisal El-Hakim from Invesco as business development director.
Reporting to Hector McNeil (pictured), co-founder and co-CEO of HANetf, El-Hakim will be responsible for engaging with asset managers worldwide, who want to increase the distribution of strategies through a UCITS ETF wrapper.
El-Hakim has 16 years' experience in the ETF space, most recently as head of Asia-Pacific and Middle East ETF business development and sales at Invesco.
He has also held roles in product structuring and business development at Source, H&W Capital, HSBC, ABN AMRO and Bear Stearns.
Commenting on his appointment, McNeil said: "The growth of ETFs in Europe has been unprecedented and more asset managers see ETFs as a critical part of their future growth strategy.
"Consequently, HANetf is engaged in over 200 conversations with asset managers who are looking to enter this high-growth market by leveraging the scale, cost-efficiency and operational robustness of the HANetf platform.
"Faisal's global experience in ETFs will be a significant advantage to our international client base as they prepare their European ETF entry.
"Strengthening our relationships with established asset managers will enable HANetf to deliver a full platform of ETFs covering all asset classes, including smart-beta, transparent and non-transparent active and thematic - backed up by a coherent distribution and marketing strategy."
In September, Big Tree Capital teamed up with HANetf to launch the first ETF in Europe via a white-label platform.
This was subsequently followed by GinsGlobal, which launched two ETFs through HANetf on the European market in October.
