Brown Shipley hires Santander AM's Vaughan as CIO Smith departs

Brown Shipley has appointed Santander Asset Management's multi-strategy solutions head Toby Vaughan as chief investment officer.

He will replace current CIO Don Smith who is leaving at the end of September to pursue other career opportunities after three years with the firm. Smith joined Brown Shipley from iCap where he spent 14 years, most recently as chief economist. Prior to this, he was a senior economist and market analyst at HSBC. Joining in October, Vaughan will be responsible for the firm's research and asset management unit, while overseeing the running of its £7.8bn assets under management.
