Multi-asset funds suffer outflows for first time in 12 months

Multi-asset funds saw their first outflows for over a year according to the latest statistics from the Investment Association.

The monthly figures, which cover sales during January 2016, show mixed asset funds saw outflows of £157m. This compares to inflows of £290m in December. Total net outflows for funds across all retail sectors were £463m, with fixed income funds among the worst hit, losing £267m. The top-selling sectors were Europe ex-UK, which saw net sales of £250m, and North America which took in £228m. The latter saw particularly strong growth, jumping from 15th place in December, when it had outflows of £22m, to second place.
