Aviva Investors' £2.5bn property manager joins Hermes Real Estate

Hermes Real Estate has hired Aviva Investors' manager Philip Nell as a fund director charged with overseeing a new property portfolio at the group.

Nell (pictured) will begin his role on 20 July, based in London reporting to Chris Taylor, chief executive of Hermes Investment Management's real estate arm. He joins from Aviva Investors, where he was most recently head of European retail funds running over £2.5bn in assets. In his role at Hermes, Nell will run the new institutional fund which Hermes is launching with its partner Countrywide, the UK Private Rental Sector fund.
