Rathbones' Coombs invests in China fund for first time ever

Rathbones Unit Trust Management's multi-asset team has allocated to a China equity fund for the first time since the inception of the strategy in 2010.

David Coombs and Mona Shah have invested 2% of their highest risk portfolio, Rathbones Enhanced Growth, in the ChinaAMC China Opportunities fund managed by Wen Liang. Shah (pictured) said: "Data from China has been mixed this year and stocks have been de-rated, particularly because of the Hong Kong pro-democracy protests. When they were de-rated quite meaningfully, it was an interesting enough entry point for us.
