Brown Shipley has promoted Kevin Doran to chief investment officer after Peter Botham moved across to a new role focusing on the company's IFA business.

Doran (pictured), who manages a number of funds at the group including its flagship Sterling Bond fund, will now be in charge of the Investment Policy Committee (IPC) and in-house fund management as part of his new role.

Meanwhile Botham, now head of IFA Investment, will focus on creating and managing the group's offering in the adviser market.

Brown Shipley chief executive Ian Sackfield said the IFA market offers huge potential for Brown Shipley: “Peter has the right experience to further develop our offering and aid winning more business via IFAs.”

The group is looking to expand its wealth management business and it emerged recently it was in the running for Jupiter Asset Management's wealth arm. The private bank faces competition from Quilter, Rathbones and Towry, with a decision expected any day.
