Hexam's Collings steps down from managing partner role

Bryan Collings has stepped down as managing partner of boutique Hexam so he can focus more closely on running the group's fund range.

Collings, lead manager of the Hexam Global Emerging Markets fund, was one of the founding partners of Hexam back in 2006 when it launched as a joint venture with Ignis Asset Management. The boutique attempted to carve out a niche for itself as an emerging markets specialist, with a number of ex-Barings fund managers including Marina Akopian and Grant Shotter joining at launch. However, its £13m Global Emerging Markets fund has struggled against peers, making a loss of 33.4% over the last three years, compared to a sector average gain of 1.2% (Morningstar, to 23 August 2013).
