Outgoing Bank of England governor Sir Mervyn King is to appear on BBC Radio 4's Desert Island Discs on Sunday.

Confirmation of the interview, with Kirsty Young, caused a stir of speculation on Twitter as to what his musical choices and luxury item may be. Former Monetary Policy Committee member Andrew Sentance, a vocal opponent to quantitative easing, suggested that his former Bank of England colleague might choose Easy Money.
