Aberdeen to seed Coupland Cardiff Japan Income fund

Aberdeen Asset Management's multi-manager team is to seed specialist Asian equity house Coupland Cardiff's Japan Income & Growth fund when it launches tomorrow.

The fund, headed by lead manager Richard Aston, is a concentrated portfolio of around 35 stocks, and is being launched to capture the high yield available from Japanese corporates. Coupland Cardiff's fifth fund, it will yield around 4%, and will be focused on growing the dividend yield as well as providing some capital appreciation on the underlying shares. Manager Aston has already worked as an analyst alongside Jonathan Dobson on the group's Japan Alpha fund, a popular choice with multi-managers, over the past few years but this will be his first role as lead manager.
