HSBC launches Frontier Markets fund

HSBC GAM has launched a Luxembourg-domiciled frontier markets fund, the HSBC GIF Frontier Markets fund.

HSBC's existing New Frontiers offering, a Specialist Investment Fund, will be merged into the new long-only equity portfolio which will be open to UK retail investors. Andrea Nannini, manager of the New Frontiers fund since launch in February 2008, will manage the newly-created portfolio, which is benchmarked against the MSCI Frontier Markets Capped Index. The new fund has an AMC of 1.75% for retail investors, with a minimum investment of $5,000.
