Morning markets - FTSE opens higher after sell-off

The FTSE opened higher on Friday, at 4823.61, up 17.86 points (0.37%) after a late rally on Wall Street supporting prices.

Tullow oil was the biggest winner, rising to £10.22, up 30.50 points (3.08%) Elsewhere Lloyds Banking Group was trading at 553p, up 1.10 (2.11%). Xstrata was at 862p up 16.90 points (2%). BP was the biggest loser at 324p, down 3.45 points (1.05%), as the beleaguered oil giant continued to suffer the fallout from the Gulf of Mexico spill. Elsewhere water company Severn Trent also performed poorly, dropping 0.58% to £12.09. Mobile operator Vodaphone Group was at 137p down 1 point (0.72%) after Goldman Sachs cut its earnings estimates earlier in the week to reflect currency headwin...
