Principal hires ex-Gartmore European equity head as CIO

Private client investment manager Principal Investment Management has appointed Stephen Jones, former head of European equities at Gartmore, as its CIO.

The private client manager, which runs nearly £1bn on behalf of private clients, says Jones will join it in mid-April. Jones spent 15 years at Gartmore, where he worked his way up from being a senior investment manager of the European equity team, to become its head. Before joining Gartmore, he worked for the Prudential Group from 1984, including seven years as a European fund manager, focusing primarily on France, Belgium and Switzerland.
