Aviva to lose equities CIO in London

Niall Paul, chief investment officer of equities at Aviva Investors in London, is leaving the firm after 11 years.

He will not be replaced as Paul Abberley, chief executive, will assume his duties as well as continuing to oversee the fixed income unit of Aviva Investors' high alpha team. Chris Reeder is assuming Paul's responsibilities for strategic planning at the group. Paul joined the investment industry in 1994, and Aviva in 1999, becoming head of equities in September 2006. A spokesman for Aviva says Paul is no longer running money on a day to day basis at the firm. There will be a handover period of several months before Paul departs.
