Morning Markets: FTSE suffers first fall in seven days

The FTSE 100 fell on opening this morning, for the first time in seven days, after the Dow Jones temporarily faltered yesterday.

The City's blue chip index was down 21.3 points (0.48%) at 4,460 early, led by the London Stock Exchange Group, which goes ex-dividend today. Financial companies Barclays, Man Group and Standard Life were also bottom five performers this morning, down 2.2% to £3.03, 1.7% to £2.75 and 1.59% to £1.92, respectively. The Dow Jones closed yesterday up 67.8 points (0.77%) at 8,915 but dropped to a day low of around 8,815 in the early afternoon.
