The UK has scored poorly in a Morningstar ranking of 16 countries for the regulation of their fund industries. In an evaluation of markets across Europe, North America and Asia, based on areas like investor protection, tax and fees, the UK was given C+, in a graded scale from A to D-. The country scored most highly for protection, with a B+ and investment research body Morningstar praising the FSA and the obligation of funds to have independent trustees.
