Threadneedle was launching a UK mid-cap fund in September to be run by its smaller companies team. Paul Cramp, head of the UK smaller companies, was to be named manager, along with Bill Barker. At the time, the group said the core philosophy behind the launch of the fund was that it invested in a sector of the market where there were perhaps only two other credible choices.
