The NAPF is offering an investment training and development programme featuring a range of courses aimed at occupational pension scheme trustees and local government officers with little experience of investment matters.
The aim of the programme is to develop the knowledge needed for them to carry out their duties and to learn the language of their investment managers while generally accruing duty-specific knowledge.
The first course, Investment Fundamentals, is a three-day programme in Warwickshire. It explains the fundamentals of asset allocation, derivatives trading, overseas and property investment and trustee issues. The course runs from 5-7 June. On 6 September in London, the NAPF will host the "Appointing Your Investment Manager" interactive one-day workshop covering aspects of how to appoint the right investment manager.
On 19 October in London "Managing your Investment Manager" will be held on how to take a more disciplined approach in assessing management performance and setting agendas for meetings to discuss the overall manager's performance.
A course on Investment Performance Measurement will be held on 31 October in London.
