I spend a fair amount of time on a Saturday morning pottering around the magazine section of my local newsagent, waiting for my son to decide whether to buy this week's thrilling instalment of the Star Wars Clone Wars or the enormously exciting Beano. In my view it's not wasted time - you can tell so much about the ebb and flow of the wider economy and our culture from magazines sitting prominently on the shelves. Judging from my local newsagent, the big 'new new' thing, apart from growing your own vegetables, is emigration. Suddenly a plethora of magazines on living abroad has sprung...
