At the moment, the US market is stuck in a trading range that it has been in since the start of the year and it is difficult to see in the near term what will make it break out either to the upside or downside. The S&P 500 started the year at 1,108, peaked at 1,157 in mid-February and was back down at 1,073 as at 10 August.
